I have my Directory Opus set in two file displays next to each other. Backspace button on keyboard has assigned "Go UP BACK" function. On the left side file display I click on the series of subfolders (e.g. C: -> Users -> Sgaluf). Then I click the triagle button to display this folder in the right side file display also.
Now, when in left side file display I press Backspace keyboard button, program remembers the previous subfolder I was in and sets focus on that subfolder (Sgaluf -> Users -> C:). However when I press the Backspace keyboard button on the right side file display, the program doesn't remember the previous subfolder and sets focus on the first (topmost) folder. Could this be fixed?
I would like Backspace to go to parent folder. If I set it to 'Go BACK' it goes to previously shown folder, which might not be parent (e.g. if I use Favorites...)
Not always. Suppose I'm in C:\AA folder and have C:\BB in my favorites. When I click on this Favorite and then press Backspace, I return to C:\AA folder, but I would like it to go to parent (C:) folder.
You're seeing that when the Backspace key is set to run Go UP BACK as it was originally in the first post?
That should not happen, and I can't reproduce it. Go UP BACK always takes me from C:\AA or C:\BB up to C:\.
Are you pushing the Backspace key (i.e. the key above Return) on the keyboard, or is it a mouse button or similar? The Back button on some mice and keyboards will do something else by default, for example, although it can be changed.
OK, back from beginning
I have Go UP BACK asigned to my Backspace key and it returns me to parent folder + remembers previous subfolder. This works great; regardless if I manually enter subfoder, or I click on Favorite or I type the folder name in location bar. The only time this doesn't work is if I have Dual display layout, as indicated in the first image.
So to reproduce my issue, set up layout to Dual display, on the left side display enter some subfolder, display this folder in the right side display, then press Backspace in the left display and in the right display. Both displays will go to parent folder, but the left side display will have previous subfolder selected, while right side display will have topmost folder selected.
I mean it's not a big deal, but I like to have things neat, if possible.
