Beta vs Stable Release notes Structure

Arising from this post is this accurate:

That

  • Release notes for all Beta Releases immediately prior to the next Stable release are also included in the release notes for that stable release?
  • So for example
    • All release notes for Beta releases 13.23.1 to 13.23.10 inclusive are included in the release notes for 13.24

If so this means that one does not need to read the release notes for every Beta just each stable release. Nice!

Yes, that's the idea. The stable release notes include the relevant items from the beta release notes, so you don't need to read both to know what changed.

Sorry for going off topic. What screenshot tool did you use? Love that zigzag cut effect that shows the middle was cropped.

Snagit. It is top heavy as a screenshot manager but I really like the editor

That 'relevant items' bit is worth taking seriously though — not everything from beta always makes it into stable. If you're tracking a specific feature, the beta release notes might have details the stable notes skip.

The main things that are skipped are things like bugs introduced in one beta and fixed in the next, where it doesn't make sense to mention to people who only install the stable releases, as it never affected them.

Or, similarly, changes to how new features work after user feedback on the initial implementation, where only the final result ends up in the stable release notes.

There may be some other cases as well, but those are the main ones.
