I am really a big fan of DOpus but would still have a suggestion to make:
Enhance the use of the mouse...
I use a mouse wich has two buttons on the side that can be used to browse forwards or backwards in an Internet Broser. This works well under DOpus too, allowing to browse through the History of the Directories i visited.
Now what I miss is the a way to connect certain combinations of mouse and keybord to certain DOpus-Commands. Like under "Settings/Customize/Keys" someting like "Settings/Customize/Mouse".
So i would be able to do something like this (for example):
[Ctrl]+[Mouse Wheel Up]: Go one Directory up
[Alt]+[Mouse Wheel Up]: Go to Root of drive
and so on...
I hope not to to tell something that is already implemented...
There were recently a few different topics here askign about the kinf of 'mouse gesture' support - which doesn't currently exist in Dopus.
Personally, I think the best way to 'add' this to Dopus would just be to allow mouse events to be specified in the existing 'hotkey' fields of all the command editor interfaces we already have to edit things like hotkey and toolbar buttons...
Search for 'mouse gesture' here on the forums and I think you should come up with a few hits where other Dopus users have recommended generic universal Windows 'mouse gesture' applications such as StrokeIt. I recall one user even offering to upload a StrokeIt config file with a bunch of Dopus actions already defined...
PS. The only 'mouse gesture' I'd really like to have would be to <hold LMB+ RMB tap> to go forward in directories, and <hold RMB+LMB tap> to go backward through directories since I've gotten used to this in the Opera web browser .
This is a bit off topic from what you are talking about but the only comment I would have regarding enhanced mouse operations is this: Don't forget there are a significant number of us southpaws out here. Being left handed in a right hand mouse world can create problems for us that most people do not have to deal with. For example, when I bought this mouse I'm using a couple years ago, it had two left side buttons that I could not help but pressing inadvertently while using the mouse with my left hand. Which naturally caused unwanted problems for me. I finally disassembled the mouse and cut the plungers that activated the side buttons.
I have heard that a left handed mouse can be purchased, but I've never seen them in any of the stores around here.
I was thinking of using an enhanced version of the hotkey-field too...
But how would you enter "mousegestures"?
That´s why I was more thinking of combinations of keys like [Ctrl]/[Alt] and some mouse clicks, not "gestures". These would be easier to trap and then write in to the Hotkey-field something like [Ctrl][LMB] or [Alt][MouseScrollWheelDown]...
I don´t think this would cause any problem for any lefthanded user. And if so, you could still NOT use the mousecklicks for hotkeys...
