Beveled/Chrome Like Folder Tabs

I'm liking Directory Opus but have found the UI does show its age a bit. Thankfully the wide swath of built in appearance options have made it possible to modernize and trim down a decent portion of the interface to my liking.

While it may be an aesthetic change only - I was wondering if there was any way to get or to add Chrome style tabs (rounded at the top and the bottom); as currently the only tab shapes that exist to my knowledge are basic rounded and squared.

The tabs are already rounded if on an OS that has rounded tab controls and window frames (e.g. Windows 11).

Windows 10’s tabs are square and we respect that by default. OTOH, Chrome completely ignores the OS look and feel in every department and does its own things. (And, frankly, if that’s a “modern” UI, they can keep it.)

You can force tabs to be rounded in other OS versions via Preferences, Colors and Fonts, Directory Opus Colors, Folder Tabs.

Yeah I am using Windows 10, but even so would these other OS's actually round the bottom of the tabs? Eg: Inverted bevels.

Currently I am attempting to force it via resource modifications to overlay .pngs in the jankiest form and apply it to the first tab in the list. Better than nothing atm.

I'm not sure what you mean here. If you want to see what a standard tab control looks like on your OS, right-click a file in Opus or File Explorer and open the Properties dialog.

You will only create more problems doing that. Use the option I mentioned instead, and never modify any of the Opus binaries.

Its an Autohotkey png overlay - nothing that would effect modify the underlying application; basically just tracking inverted beveled pngs for a browser tab. As for the default method to change tab shapes - the only shapes offered I see are regular rounded tabs do not have inverted bevels at their bottoms, and squared, hence my request.

That said, some theme engines like Stardock WindowBlinds have the ability to modify graphics at the OS level and provide inverted bevels for nigh any application, and although it works in changing the tab shape of Windows "properties" and even google chrome it doesn't seem to be able to change the shape or aesthetic of tabs in Opus.

The rounded tabs look like this:

(Or the other way up if they're at the top of the file display instead of the bottom.)

Feature request : upgrade tabs aesthetics to improve visibility and seperation of tabs please.

A quick search found this.

This kind of thing has been requested many times.
Here's one of them asking for multi-line tabs.

@David yes I like - having options would be nice - for instance, colouring the whole background of the tab would make it stand out more than the horizontal coloured bars we have at the moment.
