Bird names for new folders?

When I click on the New Folder icon in the toolbar, I get a popup allowing me to name the folder from "New Folder" to something else. The folder contents are then refreshed to show the new folder When I choose "New Folder" from the context menu to create new folders though, nothing appears to happen. No popup. No refresh of the visible folder. If I exit that folder and go back into it though, someone with a real sense of humor has created new folders with names like "woodpecker", "chicken", "owl", and "buzzard". How can I make the context menu "new folder" option act just like the toolbar icon to do the same thing?
Daniel

Sounds like you have a virus.

In regards to the animal names it sounds to me like someone once was experimenting with the file type context menu configuration (I do that myself at times and then later forget I did so). You might go to:

Settings/file types/Directory Opus file types

And doubleclick on "All files and folders" to see how the context menu is set up. I wouldn't be surprised if you found your barnyard critter names there.

To add a create new folder command to a context menu first decide which context menu you want to add it to. For example if you want to add a command to the context menu that appears when you right click over an empty area of a lister goto

CUSTOMIZE/CONTEXT MENUS/LISTER CONTEXT

And press the button to show the current lister context menu. There, just as in any other toolbar in customize mode, you can add a new button. And if you give that new button the simple command of CreateFolder then exit customize mode, you should be able to right click an empty area of the lister and create a new folder from the context menu.

[ol][li] In Customize Mode, click on the Context Menu Tab.[/li]
[li] Select the The Lister Context Menu and slick the Show button.[/li]
[li] Add a new button with this command:

FileType NEWMENU

John's suggestion will create a folder just like the New Folder button from the toolbar/ Mine just adds the Windows New > Menu to the toolbar.

Also, pressing + should get you a new folder as well.

[/quote]I'm fairly new to DO and have made very few adjustments. I wouldn't even know how to begin to do something like this, and if I had come up with a list of bird names to automatically name files I think I would have remembered it. I talked to someone else who has never used DO before that downloaded the latest version from the DO web site and they get the same thing. And, while we have shared some files in the past, I doubt that some "bird flu" virus was part of it.

Turns out it was a third-party application that we both have that was adding this to the menu. A freeware zip/rar program called Alzip. Wasn't a DO issue at all, unless you count the fact that the folder didn't refresh, and adding the DO option to the context menu worked like a charm.
