Dear all, due to accidental hard drive wipe I had to do a file recovery on disk. When this was performed I recovered multiple .rar files. My question is, "Is it possible to create a button which will rename the files using the metafile information ?" Any help would be appreciated.
I misread the preview from the recover program. It looked it was showing me the original file name. I thought this was a metafile I do not think there is a way to restore original file name from a recovered file with the recover program I used. I think I need to try a different recover program.
After a few days of searching for a better recovery program I was finally able to recover the files I was missing. Unfortunately they are compressed files and only the names and file size is recovered. The content is empty. Luckily I still have the foundxxxxx.rar file names from previous revovery and I can compare the file sizes in bites and rename the files. Now the question. It is in regards to .cbr and .cbz files (comics book compressed winrar and winzip files). I want to scan the folder and check bite sizes of all files, if there are files found the same size I want to rename the .rar files to same name as the .cbr and/or .cbz file names. The chance of having the exact same file size for multiple files are slim to nothing. So if a file is found with multiple files the same size then I need to rename them as well as _1, _2,_3, etc. Then I can just search *.cbr and *.cbz files and delete them once job is complete. Can anyone think of an easy way to perform this action with a single button ? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
