I want to use Ctrl + Shift + N for "Create Folder". That works fine if I assign it to a Create Folder button and that button is on a displayed toolbar. But I don't want to see the button. If the button with my custom hotkey in it is not on a displayed/active toolbar, the hotkey doesn't work. Is there a solution for this so I can have the custom hotkey but not display the button?
Solved. While reorganizing my custom toolbars just now, I saw (for the first time) the "[] Always enable this toolbar's keys in Listers" checkbox. It does the trick!
If you want a hotkey without a button, the normal thing to do is create a standalone hotkey, via Customize > Keys.
The "always enable" option for toolbars is really only there for the default toolbars since people kept turning them off then wondering why the Edit menu hotkeys (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, etc.) stopped working.
