Can metadata be expanded to include more ISTP fields? And can Opus read metadata from PSB files?

You can install ExifTool Custom Columns 2 script.
I have configured it for you. I have added all IPTC fields.

Install the DOpusScriptingExtensions.msi
Unzip and copy the exiftool-columns.js file to %AppData%\GPSoftware\Directory Opus\Script AddIns
exiftool-columns.zip (3.0 KB)

Then these columns become available for selection in DirectoryOpus:
