Can Opus be of help figuring out file type when extension has been removed?

I accidentally removed extensions of a number of files (long story)
Is there a way that Opus can tell me what the file type has been?
Or does anyone know a tool that can help me out on this?

Thanks a lot. Went on as per tutorial.
TrID could not 'recognize' the files and simply added .xml as file extension.
Whilst checking in Opus preview, it showed the files were .jpg type.
When manually renaming it to .jpg, the file could not be read. (?)

Later...
most likely they were just 'links' to files that were 'extracted' from emails using a specific tool and of course TrID can't handle such files - so I deleted all of those
