Can't Backup or Restore Config?

Opus has been working fine so far with the latest Windows 7 release candidate, the only thing I haven't been able to do is backup or restore the config file. Anybody else run into this?

If I try to backup, it starts to write the file, gets about 90% of the way there, then I get:

"Error code 14: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation"

and if I try to load my config from a different XP machine, it just fails.

Opus appears to write to the Temp folder when creating or restoring its configuration files. Check to make sure that you have enough disk space on the partition where your temporary folder is located. I'm not saying this is the problem, but it's worth checking out.

That shouldn't be the problem in this case, I have XP installed on the C: drive and Windows 7 installed on the F: drive, both have more than 30GB available. In fact none of my drives have less than 3 GB available.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Vista/Win 7 permissions system?

I've been running Opus on Win 7RC a couple of weeks now without problem. However, I did have a similar problem in a dual boot configuration with Vista and XP and after I had moved the Vista temp folder from its default location to a separate partition. I never did get to the bottom of it.

You may be right about it being a permission issue, but I wouldn't like to say how the permissions have changed from what they were before.

Sorry I can't be of more help; maybe reinstalling Win 7 maybe the only answer.

I suppose, thinking about it, it could be that Windows XP or something running on XP has changed the file permissions on the Windows 7 partition. It may bee worth checking the permissions on the temp folder, I would also check who owns it as well. Maybe, if necessary, give 'Everyone' permission to the temp folder.

DON'T FORGET, THERE ARE TWO TEMP FOLDERS. Located at (in my case) C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp. It is most likely the latter one that opus uses.

Hope this helps.

I would use Process Monitor to log what Opus (dopus.exe) is doing and see if it shows which operation is failing.

If you find the info that Process Monitor displays overwhelming, save it to a log file (File -> Save) and send it to me asa private message. I'll see if anything stands out as the probable cause.

Gooch & I have been looking into this and have it solved now.

For anyone else experiencing problems with config import/export, or with general zipping and unzipping, try simply reinstalling Opus over the top of itself.

In Gooch's case this solved the problem. 64-bit Opus uses a COM object for zipping/unzipping and it seems that the registration of the object had been damaged. Reinstalling Opus over the top of itself will re-register the object and correct the issue, if that is the problem.
