Since installing v.13 I'm not able to select more than 1 folder or file with the classic
ctrl + cursor hover with the mouse - somewhere in Registry settings long ago I configured
hover times to be super brief, if that is part of this issue -
but I never had problems before v13.
And I can't simply ctrl + click on each successive folder/file,
b/c that opens it in the pane on the other side - a desirable behaviour for me.
Experimenting - I can Select non-contiguous files/folders if I continue to press Ctrl after the 1st selection, then Up or Down arrow to another file or folder at least 1 away, then press Spacebar.
btw - pressing Shift + cursor hover (mouse) works successfully to select multiple contiguous files/folders as expected.
I'm definitely activating the window first.
Turned off tips - didn't make any difference.
Here's a screencap with another bit of info -
when I hover, the name BEGINS to change to highlighted -
but the color change only goes "1/2 way", and the name fails to be selected.
** If I select 1 f/f, then ctrl-CLICK a 2nd f/f - it opens the f/f Properties d-box,
but the 2nd and subsequent f/f REMAINS Selected when I click CANCEL on the d-box -
and I can continue doing this for n folders.
They might both be selected, depending on your color settings. The item that is selected and has focus may have a darker color than items which are just selected.
Another thing to note is that if you hold Ctrl and move over a selected item, it'll deselect it.
If your mouse settings have the hover time set extremely fast, that could mean that a slight movement of the mouse is going to potentially select/deselect it multiple times.
Just thought to test this behaviour in Windows Explorer, and it works as expected -
ctrl - hover does Select multiple non-contiguous f/f -
so for some doggone reason, dOpus does seem to be involved.
Uninstalled v.13, installed 12.33 : ctrl - Hover works as expected ! ! SUCCESS
Now uninstall 12.33, and start at the beginning with v.13.1 = FAIL.
After immediate v.13.1 FAIL, I changed Prefs to > "Replace Explorer for all folders" = still FAIL
(previously I've always had it set to "Replace Explorer for all file system folders (recommended)".
What is it about v.13 that's not cooperating? Appreciate the continued Help, Thanks.
My original post was from a 13.10 install (latest) -
what I described above was going back to the 1st release of v.13 = "13.01"
And, yes I tried to select immediately after install and before I imported my saved config -
and it did NOT work at that immediate stage either (using default config).
Hey here's a breakthrough - -> ctrl + alt + hover = SELECT SUCCESS ! for non-contiguous f/f.
So, adding the alt key while holding ctrl and hover gives the original ctrl + hover behaviour -
That fits with my earlier theory, since this toggling doesn't happen with Alt down:
I've made a change for the next beta which will hopefully improve this, making it so it won't trigger a second toggle unless the mouse is moved more than just a few pixels and then left stationary again.
HKCU>Control Panel>Mouse>MouseHoverTime from 1 to default 400 -
did not make a difference - ctrl + hover still NOT work.
Reminding again that dOpus v.12.33 DOES work - even w/ MouseHoverTime at 1,
as does Windows Explorer @ 1, and other apps where multiple non-contiguous selections
can be made.
Thank you for your time and insight to this phenomenon - appreciated.
further, now a former problem is back after this Beta -
attempting to drag/drop copy items causes dOpus to freeze, and the path bar turns grey -
as noted, this happened a couple versions ago but was temporarily resolved -
I don't recall if Beta 10.2 resolved or not - I'll have to go back and try several reinstalls.
