My default Lister is set to list view. When I open a new Tab (Ctrl+T) the tab appears in detail view. The same when I open a new lister (File Display\Go Up\Parent in new lister). Where are the settings to let theam also appear in list view?
Oh, yes I see. The formats are stored in Formats\default.off. 
There is no reason to look at the config files directly, especially before reading the FAQs.
