Command Prompt & PowerShell Here all show in red

I'm not sure which version this started happening, but it's been happening for a while for me and I've only just remembered to bring it up!

Whenever I use the "Command Prompt Here" or "PowerShell Here" commands from the Tools menu, the prompts are in a red background as if they were ran with Admin privs. I have no idea why they're doing this.

Non-elevated prompts (that should be black background):

Elevated prompts (that SHOULD be red background):

Any help to get them to show up normally would be very much appreciated!

Maybe you've changed the default color? Do you see the same thing if you run cmd.exe from the Windows+R dialog?

I haven't changed the defaults, however I have just run cmd.exe from Win+R and it is indeed red.

I have gone to the properties window and it thinks it should be black, as you can see here:

Really weird!

Do you have anything set for AutoRun underneath HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor in the registry?

Nope, this is all I have under that key

Maybe you have some other software installed that's changing it? You might want to try asking on superuser.com or similar to see if anyone there has any ideas.

Thanks for looking into it for me! I'll see what I can find out

The HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console area also has some settings which can remap the 16 colors to other values.

Here's what all the settings there look like on a clean install of Win 10 Pro:

This is an older thread, so it looks like you guys made it better.
So I was able to fix the red background with the nocolor argument.

Also, the 'Three Buttons' feature is awesome. So my command prompt button, left click opens a cmd at the folder, right click same with admin and middle click power shell admin. Nice.

This is the right click on button: Cmd admin with (fixed) black background.
