As the title says.. The label name isn't localized to each category meaning the label name must be unique between categories ( Also, it is annoying that the category name isn't shown in the Set Label dropdown list - it would help )... This is an issue because I want to use the same label name between different categories with different icons...
For example, if I need "To Do" something such as Editing a file, I'd much rather have the label named "To Do" with the icon telling me exactly what to do to avoid filling up the label / tag column as the picture says a lot... And I'd like a "To Do" label with a different icon in a different category with a different icon letting me know I have to add content... Etc...
This is a generic example and I know I could have Todo: Edit file.. ToDo: Add Content, etc... but if the icon says that why fill up the label column with redundant information?
Another example... I want to add 3 color-sets of an icon ( I can only set the icon color per label ) so I will have a "To Do" ( generic example ) icon in Green, Yellow and Red to denote progress with green being light amount left, yellow as moderate and red as heavy by setting up 3 categories... So if I download an icon set and I want to add it multiple times in different colors to denote progress.. I can't unless I change the name of the label in the Red, Yellow or Green category despite the category containing that information and it being redundant to add the color to the label name because the icon will be colored....
The categories let you (optionally) filter labels in different places, but commands which refer to individual labels directly only refer to them by name, not Category + Name.
You'll just have to give each label a unique name.
That's terrible.. There's no reason to have categories then because categories don't even show up in the drop-down list to choose status / label... and it doesn't show up in label assignments either... I created categories for File Types, Folder Types, Highlighters, Realms, etc... and some labels need to be named the same otherwise it just looks ugly ( and currently, the dropdowns make it almost impossible to find the exact label you want to use in label assignments [ also, if you assign more than 1 label to a file / folder it will show more than 1 icon but the tag / label column will only show 1 ] )
There is also no point to the hard-coded "status" category either; you should simply add all of the categories to the drop-down for assigning labels so we aren't limited to 2 lists... an "EVERYTHING" list and the "status" list...
With how everything works.... Because I can not give 2 differently categorized labels the same name, when I enable grouping by label and also have automatic status icons based on file type, file name, folder name, etc...
It isn't possible to change the order of the status icons which are assigned using label assignments because if I want folders to show up in the "A File Folder" label group, I have to assign all folders this FIRST... This way, when I assign the Client, Shared, and Server Realm Icon / Color / Label ( Label doesn't show up because we're limited to 1 ) it will appear inside the right group but if I have an icon set for "A File Folder", which I did, the Realm icon will appear second ( despite preferring it first and having it first elsewhere ).. So I had to remove the file folder icon in order for it to "look right"....
I we could set a label sub-text in a separate box ( which can be the same ) which we could group by, then I could create differently named labels but have them group together and then it wouldn't matter the order I added the assignments in meaning the icons would show up how I want them, and so would the grouping...
Unfortunately, this isn't possible... A simple fix would be to allow labels to carry the same name and then it would be possible...
Double quotes (") aren't allowed in label names, and Opus doesn't let you type " into the name fields in the UI for editing them, so I don't think that will help in any way?
They aren't. Quotes in label names would cause problems. For example, you would not be able to reference the labels in commands. The characters that the UI doesn't allow you to type are disallowed for a reason, not just random choices.
