Compatibiliy issues, low performance on DOpus 11

Dear Sirs

I had updated Directory Opus to version 11.6 , and the performance decreased very much when compared with version 10.
Every time opening DO11 , a very slow lister pane , it did not respond to inputs or clicks on files, and stuck on every file operation.

It appear to have some compatibility issue with Office 2013 . When first opening DO11 before any office document it appear to perform well. After any office document, DO11 stuck. I already reinstalled both office, DO11 but nothing changed.

Please inform if there is any conflict with Norton 360 as well.

thanks!!

Computer: Dell Workstation Precision 380, Pentium Extreme Edition , Windows 7 32bit. 4GB

Opus has no direct interaction with Office, so the problem is probably caused by something which hooks into both Office and Opus.

Suggestions in this recent thread apply here as well:

Closing ANY application causes DO to delay responding...

Thanks Mr leo

Also the same bahavior occur when I run two instances of DOpus11 . One instance become non responsive.
Note that behavior did not occured with DOpus10...

Also Norton 360 issue an alert message that DOpus 11 is heavy on CPU usage.

Thanks

The FAQ on high CPU usage may be useful in tracking down the issue. It is almost certainly caused by a third-party component that's been loaded into the Opus process.

Dear Mr Jon

I did your suggestion. Albeit flicking very fast, the most intensive CPU usage came from:

dopuslib.dll!DummyDllFunctionToAvoidSymbolConfusion+0x414b0
dopuslib.dll!DummyDllFunctionToAvoidSymbolConfusion+0x415f7

When also running Skype, DOpus11 run very slow.

Thanks

What's the full stack, shown when you click the Stack button?

Hi Leo
full stack in several situations:

before office open
ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
dopus.exe+0x49b8dd
dopus.exe+0x4974a0
dopus.exe+0x496c82
dopus.exe!DummyExeFunction1ToAvoidSymbolConfusion+0x1a3008
kernel32.dll!BaseThreadInitThunk+0x12
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xef
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xc2

after word office open, dopus11 folder tree very slow response

ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
dopus.exe+0x49b8dd
dopus.exe+0x4974a0
dopus.exe+0x496c82
dopus.exe!DummyExeFunction1ToAvoidSymbolConfusion+0x1a3008
kernel32.dll!BaseThreadInitThunk+0x12
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xef
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xc2

after a second instance of dopus 11 with office word opened: very slow response on both folder tree and lister pane

ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
dopus.exe+0x49b8dd
dopus.exe+0x4974a0
dopus.exe+0x496c82
dopus.exe!DummyExeFunction1ToAvoidSymbolConfusion+0x1a3008
kernel32.dll!BaseThreadInitThunk+0x12
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xef
ntdll.dll!RtlInitializeExceptionChain+0xc2

when killing office and second instance of dopos11 , the remaining dopus11 become stuck, non responsive , and you need to wait almost 10 seconds:
I saw dopus11 consuming almost 25% of cpu usage.

ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
gbieh.dll!SpecialFunction+0xd0324
gbieh.dll!SpecialFunction+0x81372
gbieh.dll!SpecialFunction+0x81477
gbieh.dll!SpecialFunction+0x84074
dopus.exe+0x492f31
SHELL32.dll!SHGetDiskFreeSpaceExW+0x1b69

Thanks !!

gbieh.dll is interesting since it seems to be an Internet Explorer plug-in (and presumably shell extension as well, since it's being loaded into Opus and other programs) for home-banking (Banco Brasil).

I'd recommend using ShellExView to try disabling anything related to that, then reboot and see if the problem remains.

(If the problem is still there, I recommend using ShellExView to disable any non-Microsoft, non-Opus extensions, then reboot and see if the problem is still there. If it is then gone, re-enable a few at a time and reboot to narrow it down to a particular component.)

Dear Leo

I removed the Banco do Brasil Internet Explorer plugin, that removed gbieh.dll.
I reboot the system and the performance of DOPUS 11 returned ok.
I am working during one week and the performance was ok.
Today I installed again BB plugin and performance DOPUS goes down again.
There is a compatibility issue here.
Curiously, only DOPUS11 heavily suffer this behavior, albeit Office also suffer some performance degradation.

I removed again BB plugin. DOPUS OK.

Thanks for the support!!
