Confused about upgrade subscription

It seems that the terms 'update' and 'upgrade' are used interchangeably and don't mean what they used to.

Update used to mean all and any 12.x releases and upgrades meant major version increments like 12.x to 13.x.

So here I am confused by what an upgrade subscription is. What exactly am I paying for if I upgrade my license from 12 to 13? The site seems to call it an 'upgrade' of my license, but that does not include all 13.x releases as I understand (after one year). Hence I have to pay a yearly subscription to install future 13.x updates.

But then what happens if I (hypothetically) upgrade tomorrow, install the latest 13.10 and go offline for a year? Will I have to pay to install any releases that happens within the next 12 months (that is included with the upgrade)? Am I stuck with v13.10 forever unless I renew the upgrade subscription?

Is there any logic like "User X paid till date Y. Version 13.y was released before date Y. Hence user is entitled to version 13.y."?

Or is it more like "Check User X subscription status. User X not currently subscribed. Block any further updates."?

You'll get a license that allows you to run forever any version of Opus published before August 2025.

See the Licensing FAQ for questions about subscriptions.

My question isn't answered there. Will I be able to install any versions released within the subscription period after the subscription ends? Or will I have to have a subscription to install any update regardless of when it was released?

Yes, you can install and use any version which was released while your update subscription is/was valid.

Yes it is.

Ok yeah. That was added 10h ago. Wasn't there before I created this thread. I did read. Thanks for including this.
