When I perform command COPY AS, DOpus first counts all files to be copied and then displays prompt for new name.
Is it possible that DOpus would prompt for new name before counting files, so I don't have to wait and stare at the progress window? Or maybe it could wait for new name and count files simultaneously?
Agreed, it's not ideal with large directories.
That said, you can click the Skip button to stop the counting and get the prompt immediately. (The progress bars won't be as accurate, but it'll get things going quicker.)
I didn't know that I can skip counting by pressing skip.
Anyway, I don't know if I get what you mean by "agreed". Does it mean that you are going to do something to change current behavior?
BTW, maybe it would be better to have text field (for new name) inside progress window? Just an idea.
Possibly, but not sure yet.
I was just about to post a new topic with title "Copy As / Duplicate function should ask for a new name before counting the files" and the Discourse detected that this ultra-old topic already exists, so I've decided to post here.
Around 6 years later, this issue is still relevant: when I want to duplicate a large folder on a network drive, there's a lot of small files so counting takes time, so the new name dialog pops up unexpectedly interrupting my other work and I've possibly forgot which name I had in mind if there are multiple duplications to do. And I don't want to skip the counting because I want to know operation progress.
