Copying files, review for exisiting before starting

when copying (copy, not sync tool) a bunch of selected files from source to destination is there a way to have it review for existing files in the destination before it starts the copy process?

when i do this currently if the files are large you have to be around to answer skip etc. if it hits one mid process

If there are no nested directories (i.e. all the files are in the current directory) then you can see which files in the source are also in the destination by running this:

Select ALL Select SOURCETODEST DESELECTNOMATCH

You could use the Sync utility in Opus to see what will happen before commencing the copy. That will work with nested directories, too.

i like the Select idea

about the sync tool:
i think for what i am referring too that it is not the right tool because it doesn't act only on selected files, does it?
here is a common task for me
100-200 large files on the left, 200-300 on the right
not concerned with sub directories, just the current directory is ok
so if i pick 10 files to copy to the right i would like to review the dates and overwrite decisions before the copy process starts, rather than have to be there for the whole process

your select idea is a good start but is not really optimal

the sync tool wants to consider files in the source which i may not want to consider (unless i am missing something)

i guess what i am looking for is a 'copytest', do all the actions of a copy without actually copying the files
sort of like what windows ought to be doing when it says 'preparing to copy' forever and ever

with the sync tool after it does the compare and puts up the button to SYNCHRONIZE there doesn't seem to be a way to go tweak what is going to be done, is there ?
i.e. i need to review and adjust the actions in both the source and dest but as far as i can tell i have to either take the proposed actions or abort, is that correct?
thanks

You're right, the sync tool ignores what is/isn't selected so if you're not copying the entire folder then it's not suitable.
