It starts with instructions and screenshots for adjusting over 50 Preferences and Settings that will transform Directory Opus 13 (DOpus) from its default state into a powerful tool for managing and organizing all types of files, with a focus on working with photos and videos.
After that, I’ll show you how to customize the Toolbars and move very useful buttons out of menus so they can be accessed more easily.
Next, you learn to create and edit Folder Formats. Code for 6 different Folder Formats is included.
Then I'll teach you how to use many of its most useful features, and you’ll get several Rename Presets to install–Presets that I created for renaming photos and videos, and for moving them into a folder structure.
If you’ve never used DOpus, you'll be amazed by its many benefits compared to file browsers like File Explorer and Finder, and you'll be ready to take your digital photo and video organizing workflow to the next level.
Anyone can try to configure and learn to use DOpus on their own, but this course will save you a tremendous amount of time because you will learn things I’ve spent a long time figuring out!
The value of this course lies in the combination of these three important elements:
- My knowledge of strategies & techniques for organizing digital photo and video collections.
- My knowledge of photo and video metadata.
- My knowledge of DOpus.
DOpus is the application I use most when organizing digital photo and video collections for clients. Since I began using DOpus in late 2020, I have gradually learned what the important features are, and how to use them.
I don’t use all its features or even understand all its capabilities. I have focussed my efforts on defining the organizing tasks I need to do, then figuring out how to accomplish those tasks using DOpus features.
I could not have figured out what I’ve figured out without the very generous assistance of the DOpus developers and other DOpus users. Whenever I ask a question in the Opus Resource Centre (Forum) I always receive helpful answers and advice—and very quickly.
Using DOpus seems to come naturally to some–those who are very comfortable with commands and scripts–but this course is for everyone else!
Photo organizing is a fast-growing industry, and Dopus has only recently gotten the attention of professional photo organizers, who have little time to figure out yet another application!
