Not sure what's causing this, but all my folders in my Music folder have had folder icons set to CD's. I have cover.jpg as the cd_thumb_coverart_file setting in Preferences.
No matter what I try, ever since recently, new folders I add to the Music folder do not generate a folder icon at all. I made sure cover.jpg exists in the folder, and made sure it was actually jpeg data.
I even tried clearing the thumbnail cache. All the folders that previously were working still generate new thumbnails, but my new ones do not.
Not really sure how to go about figuring out what's going on. Any ideas?
FYI Setting the Folder Thumbnail itself to cover.jpg also doesn't show the thumbnail. But obviously I want the CD art specifically, not the base folder thumbnail.
The folders where it’s not working look like they have no music directly below them; only sub-folders. That would prevent automatic CD thumbnails when juat using folder.jpg, FWIW.
Should still work via the explicit covert filename, though.
Could you show us the configuration of that in Prefs/Misc/Advanced?
Also, check if the folders have hidden desktop.ini files. You may need to turn on display of hidden and system files to see them. If those are there, they may be overriding how the folders are displayed.
Yep. I've had the coverart setting in Advanced set to cover.jpg for 8+ years now. My music directory has used cover.jpg as a standard for that long.
If I change it, the CD art doesn't show, but it still doesn't fix the thumbnails showing on the new folders. Every other folder reverts to the base folder thumbnails with the image(s) inside them.
There are neither hidden files nor desktop.ini files in the new folders.
Are they in cloud storage? Unpinned generally means you've selected the "free up space" option which stores the files in the cloud rather than locally.
Strange the FTP is specifying that attribute, but I think I see how it can and up being copied across to a folder if it is there. We filter the attributes for files, but not folders.
I've made a change to filter both now, although we'll probably test it for a while to make sure there are no unwanted side-effects before releasing it, since it could cause problems and is fixing an issue that has never come up until now. But, assuming nothing unexpected, we should be able to prevent that happening again.
Thank you so much @Leo! I'll wait patiently for this to hit beta. I always read the changelogs. Your team has always kept the features and bug fixes coming. I can't tell you how helpful this software has been for me over the years. ^^
