Ctrl + Alt + M not working / can't be searched for

As far as I can tell, this is a new bug report.

I believe the default key combo shortcut for EDIT METADATA is CTRL+M, but I’ve changed it to CTRL+ALT+M, mostly because I’ve been using CTRL+M for MOVE (selected files/folders to destination) since before default hot keys were implemented for MOVE and EDIT METADATA in DOpus as installed, if I recall correctly. Anyway, for some reason CTRL+ALT+M is not working for me, and when I try to enter that combo in the filter field of the Customize > Keys window in order to see if I have any conflicts with another function using the same combo (it looks like I don’t), it won’t register that I’ve pressed M along with CTRL+ALT, so it shows me all key combos that use CTRL+ALT. The filter field does register me pressing CTRL+M and ALT+M, so it looks like M itself isn’t the problem.

Using DOpus v12.8 and Windows 10 Pro, fully updated except for the most recent feature update.

Something else on your system has probably taken over Ctrl+Alt+M as a global hotkey, and is intercepting it before it reaches Opus.

For example, if I try to do the same thing, Macrium Reflect appears (looking a little weird and empty):

If that’s the case, I have no idea what it might be, as it doesn’t seem to actually do anything. I do also typically have AutoHotkey running, but I don’t have CTRL+ALT+M assigned to anything in it, and I tried using the key combo in DOpus with AutoHotkey shut down just in case, but no difference.

You can use HotKeyList to see a list of which hotkeys programs have reserved on your system.

It won't tell you which program has done it, unfortunately, but it will confirm that the key has been reserved by something. You could then try closing various things and F5-refreshing the tool to see if it stops listing that key.

Thanks for the tip. Even though I peruse Nirsoft.net on a semi-regular basis, HotKeysList never stuck out for me, and I was wondering if there might be such a program.

Anyway, HotKeysList does indeed report that CTRL+ALT+M is used by something, but the culprit remains elusive. I’ve shut down everything that looks like it was third-party (not part of Windows, or a driver that Windows is dependent on, but the key combo is still there. I also see a handful of hotkeys (not including CTRL+ALT+M) that happen to be registered to Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, but even if I stop that service, the keys are still shown in the HotKeysList window. In fact, the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel window still opens when I press a relevant key combination while the service is stopped.

I also did another science experiment: I intentionally added CTRL+ALT+M to AutoHotKey to paste a text sequence, and it worked. What the…?

And, I notice that HotKeysList doesn’t list any key combos that use the WIN key, or any other qualifiers other than ALT, CTRL and SHIFT.
