Dark Mode and Custom Color Configurations in V13

I recently upgraded to V13 but haven't installed it yet.

One reason is that I spent a lot of time making my own "dark color scheme" that works well. I would however like to experiment with the themes in v13. Perhaps they are better since they were built by pros.

Can you tell me if I will be able to take my current color theme and save it before I tinker with other themes?

Also, will the color schemes mess with my toolbars? I have a highly customized setup. I will certainly back things up, but I want to know what to expect.

Thanks.

Before installing the new version, use Settings > Backup & Restore to make a config backup. Then you always have that if anything goes wrong.

Install 13 over the top of 12 and it should detect that you were using dark colors in the old version, switch Opus into dark mode automatically, and apply your colors over the top of the default dark-mode ones (which will fill in the gaps for colors that didn't exist in Opus 12).

Preferences / Colors and Fonts / Themes lets you apply the default dark (or light) colors if you want to try them. Before applying a theme, it will give you the option of creating a theme out of your current colors, so you can go back to them easily.

Toolbars from 12 should work as-is in 13.

During installation, modified toolbars will be left alone by default, but you do have the option to replace/update them with the new defaults.

If you choose to update them, the old toolbars will be copied to backups which you can still turn on via Customize > Toolbars.

If you choose to keep them as-is, you can still access the default toolbars, and copy new commands out of them, via Customize > Default Toolbars.

Thanks for that. I have a ton of carefully setup listers. Will the toolbars be left alone in them?

They should be, yes.
