De-selecting files in Power mode

I wonder if you could help me with a problem that is driving me mad trying to fix?

I have all my music stored on A NAS. I have a folder for each category e.g. Pop,Blues,Country etc.

Each of these folders has its own folder format using the power mode. I do this because I have albums in both flac and mp3 formats and it is important for me to know which album is in which format in each folder. I do this using status icons, which works brilliantly.

Of course, using power mode I get the mode's selection properties, which I often do not want. In order to deselect files I have set the Power mode mouse middle button to Deselect.

It deselects the files OK, but it also turns the display in my Music folder format - i.e. the format which naturally applies to the sub-folders as they contain only music files. After I have deselected the files the format lock button tells me I am using the Music folder format.

I have a temporary fix by placing a Deselect button the the all folders right-click menu, but to be able to use the middle mouse button would be so much easier.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

PS: Your status icons idea is absolutely fabulous and so, so useful.

You can show the same information and status icons in Details mode. The only reason to use Power mode is if you want the mouse buttons/selection to work in a non-standard way. If you want the standard mouse button/selection behavior, use Details mode instead.
