Default window positions -restore down does not keep dimensions

When I open DO, I have it opening to a full screen (which is how I like it).
However when I put it into a window with the 'restore down' button in the upper right corner the lister looks like this:

and I would prefer it to restore down to this:

I have tried to open the lister in full screen restore down and restore back up and then save the layout as default. But 'DirectorOpus' doesn't seem to remember the window size.

Is there a way I can have the restore down size and position be remembered?

Thank you for your time gang!

That window looks maximized. Which button do you mean by "restore down" exactly?

Do you mean the widths of the panels or another detail?

Hello Leo, Thank you for the quick reply
Both images are in a 'window' (my display is a 4k 30" monitor so I am sure it looks big)
and the button I am referring to is this:

So I start off Maximized and when I click that button .. the restore down to a window ..... the window width is not as wide as I would like.
I am trying to make it go from full screen to a windowed view that will still show everything in my toolbars.

Thanks for your time Leo! I really appreciate it!

From a maximized state, restoring the window will return it to whatever size it was before it was maximized. You just need to resize the window to the size you want.

Settings > Set Lister Defaults can be used to save that as your default lister's size, if it's not already auto-saving when the window is closed (which is optional).
