Deleting symbolic links to folders on network drives

In my experience, here's what happens in DO 12.9 under Win7/SP1/x64 with SymLinks:

[+] Link from one mapped network drive to another: deleting link to file works fine and leaves the target file intact.

[+] Link from one folder on a local drive to another one on the same drive or on a network drive: deleting link to folder works fine and leaves the target folder and its contents intact.

[–] Link from a mapped network drive pointing to a folder on a local or network drive: deleting link to folder removes the link and empties the target folder. <- Problem.

Is this a bug? Is there a way to delete a symbolic link to folder (and not the contents of the linked folder) under all circumstances?

Thanks.

What does File Explorer do?

Windows Explorer removes the link properly, leaving the target contents in place.

The bug (which results in data loss) is still there in 12.15.

We've fixed this for the next beta (12.15.3).

(Tested with a junction on the remote machine, pointing to another folder on the same remote machine. Other things like softlinks to UNC paths did not work at all for me, even outside of Opus and before trying to delete them.)

(But please still link your account.)

Thanks for the response.

Might this resolve your problem with softlinks (symlinks)?
