Desktop Icon always renders as a generic folder

On all of my machines the Desktop icon under Home always renders with a default folder icon. This just bugs my OCD. I've found if I redirect the Desktop to a different location and then again back to it's default location the icon will appear correctly, but only for a little while. Then it seems to revert.

This is a minor issue, not sure if it's Opus or Windows. For what it's worth it displays right in Explorer. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Does it only happen under Home (Quick Access) in the folder tree?

If so, try unpinning it from there, then re-pin it again.

That didn't work. But I realized it also doesn't have an icon when viewing in %userprofile% in both Opus and Explorer. I guess it's a Windows issue. Strange that it happens across machines and Windows installations though.

Most likely that folder (the one under your profile dir) has had its icon removed/broken, maybe by something messing with desktop.ini or the attributes on desktop.ini or the folder itself.

Maybe, next time it happens I'll try recreating desktop.ini. I wonder if that's why redirecting it and then putting it back fixes it.
Thanks for your help as always.
