I have used multiple monitors since Windows 2000. I used to love a program called PowerDesk. It allowed you to detach the viewer pane so it could be full-screen on a second display and as you moved through the file list it would show whatever was under the cursor/selected (usually used for images).
I have never found another program since that would do this. I purchased Directory Opus just so I could ask this question (and the fact that it is amazingly useful)-
Is it possible to do this in Directory Opus? I have used the built-in viewer, but it does not update as you scroll though files in the lister like the viewer pane does.
This question was asked way back in 2013 and at the time, the answer was “no”.
It was asked again in 2021 and not really answered.
If it is still impossible, I would like to submit this as a feature request for the next version. If you did, you’d have one guaranteed paid upgrade, that’s for sure.
We plan to add that in the future. (So a separate viewer window can function like a preview pane without being part of the same window as the file display.)
At the moment you can only do the reverse, which is to make changing image in a separate viewer highlight the same file in the file display.
Thank you for the quick response. I have no idea how many people would appreciate this feature, but I can tell you that it would distinguish you from other file management programs and therefore may be a good selling point.
I am guessing that a higher than average fraction of the people who would use Directory Opus would also have multiple displays.
Thanks again. I hope you add this feature to the next version.
