I am currently trying out Directory Opus 13.11. I am impressed by the degree of customizability. I have three questions:
When I move or copy a file to another pane, it is executed immediately, but is it possible to set this behavior to display a dialog showing the move or copy destination before it's running?
Is it possible to set up the behavior of double-clicking on an empty area in the Lister to move up parent directory?
Is it possible to select multiple files that are spaced apart rather than adjacent files via like spacekey?
If these things were possible, I would be able to forget other and consolidate my Filers into one DO.
I don't understand this request. If in single display mode, a copy will generate a dialog for a directory as a destination. If in dual display mode and copy or drag and drop, you will see the destination.
Yes, with a feature called background events
Yes, via middle-click with the appropriate settings
I sometimes make a mistake when copying files to the wrong destination when I have many tabs open on Dual Display, so I want to always check by the dialog before copying files to the wrong destination. Is there a setting to always display the "Select Destination Folder" dialog?
I see! Is it possible to do by just the trackpad or keyboard instead of the middle click without special drivers?
You could show a custom confirmation via scripting.
But if you set a separate background color for the Destination side (under Preferences / Colors and Fonts / Directory Opus Colors / [File and Folder Colors] File display background), that may also avoid confusion about which direction the copy/move will go in without requiring the extra click every time.
This was pretty close to what I wanted! I was able to implement it as a button. I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
One more thing, when it comes to selecting multiple files that are far apart, I finally discovered that it's easy to do with Ctrl + left click by default. My next task is to make this behavior possible using only the spacebar.
