Did a recent Windows update screw up Autohotkey? /E - solved!

I'm using a small Autohotkey tool for a very long time now. It has various functions like some 'post it' style stickers, a list of auto correct text, some window control functions. But since a couple of days it became extremely sluggish to operate. Opening the settings panel, or the post its, or saving changes takes now maybe 10 seconds (was instantly before that) or even clicking a second time.

I made no changes for months, so i suspect, that one of those Windows updates has messed up something. Is anyone here, who recently had similiar problems with Autohotkey scripts? And no, re-installing that tool didn't fix the issues. Very strange.

This bothered me. So i had another research, and sure enough, i have found the culprit now. It was the new (i guess) Dev Drive Protection option in the security settings, which was turned on by default. Even though i have not a single drive in that Dev Drive mode, the 'broken' Autohotkey app is completely fixed, with that option turned off.

How odd! Will turning it on break AHK again?

Interesting idea. And it turned out, that turning it back on doesn't trigger the slow down anymore. Let's see, if it will be back after my next re-boot.

I don’t have AHK installed, but I’ve also been experiencing occasional strange delays. For example, an inline-renamed file might take up to 20 seconds to update, or moving a file into a subfolder can take several seconds. These issues are difficult to reproduce, and I haven’t been able to identify a pattern so far.

Dev Drive Protection should improve performance by reducing the antivirus interventions. I don't have a Dev Drive, but I will turn that option on and check if it makes a difference.

It definiteley had to be the reason, since turning it off instantly brought back the ususal performance of my script tool. I already suspected some of the security settings to slow down the tool, but only looked into the usual 'recently blocked' list, where it wasn't listed.
