I am running directory opus 9.5.0.0.3565 on Windows 7 32-bit on HP Dv5 Core2Dup 2.00Ghz with 4GB RAM.
Although it used to work fine now I can see it behaves very slow and hangs occasionally when plugging in a USB device. It goes into a never ending wait till a drive letter is assigned to the connected USB flash/harddrive.
Same is the behavior on reading any CD/DVD/BD , and any network shares mounted which are absent/inactive. I can understand that, but it keeps looking for too long for inactive network maps (if pressed accidentally) and frequently hangs ultimately.
Is there any solution to optimize its performance. I know and have read through most common suggestion in another post on the forum, I am afraid I might be doing some of those SINS , but all of them are on a need basis and are actively used.
Just when plugging it in, or all the time when it is plugged in?
When plugging in a USB Flash/Drive when the Directory Opus is already running and listers are open.
Yes also sometimes when looking at the drive in question
Having network drives mapped to machines which are not available will cause all sorts of things to hang, not just Opus. It's a really bad idea.
Caught the culprit. Inactive network shares are a sin to have. So a confession to remove them out of my life took care of Opus behaving in slow motion.
