Directory Opus do not see file paths greater than 255 chars

Hello,

Using Windows XP SP3 32-Bit and Directory Opus 9.5.2.0.3660 x86.

Trying to move/copy files and folders across two connected USB harddisks. Apparently there are some file names and paths names which are greater than the maximum limit (255) of Windows Explorer (not NTFS file system). So as expected Opus also does not handles them and shows an error message where inevitably I have to skip in order to resume the copying with the rest of the shorter file names/paths.

I have heard other software like Robocopy bypass this limit and can copy the longer filepaths as well. Is it so ? then I believe a program like Directory Opus should also be able to handle it.

Is there any clue or guidance about how to do it in DIrectory Opus.

Thanks.

Please upgrade to the current version 955. It's a free upgrade.

Ok but if I may pleasingly or unpleasingly....upgrade to version 9.5.5.xxx then are you or anyone else sure that this limitation is taken care of.

Is it sure to handle the file names/paths with lengths greater than 255 characters.

Leo..any ideas.

Thanks.

Opus does actually support long paths - providing your two hard disks are both using NTFS, there should be no problem.

Well that provision is there for sure mate....I aint using any old file systems like FAT/FAT32 , both the drives are using NTFS.

Trying doing so at your end....make a path greater than 255 and then post the results...kindly If you may.

Thanks.

Yes, as I said, this works fine in Opus. What error are you actually seeing? Is the error actually coming from Opus or another program? Opus will natively handle paths up to 65535 characters but if an external program (which includes context menu extensions) is involved the behaviour cannot be guaranteed.
