My employer is current evaluating Directory Opus for purchase. I have presented management two demos of the product and they have tentatively approved it subject to a security review. It appears that our organization will implementing the new Microsoft Office 365 Security & Compliance offerings. More information can be found at this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/ .
My general understanding is the the current version of Windows Explorer supports the necessary functionality to work with this type of security and the data loss prevention (DLP) functionality.
Does the same functionality for this exist within Directory Opus? Please explain.
I'm not sure how DLP relates to Opus. (Or File Explorer, for that matter. Explorer isn't mentioned at all in the DLP overview.)
Opus doesn't index file content, other than caching thumbnails (which it won't do for Office documents, since it gets their thumbnails via the shell which already caches them).
Aside from that, Opus can copy documents, but that's true of almost any piece of software (via the File Open dialogs if not anywhere else).
I can't think where DLP is relevant to Opus, but I'm also not familiar with DLP and may be missing something important.
What are you expecting Opus to do (or not do) here?
