Directory Opus + Zip and Email Files + classic Outlook + mailto emulation

I’m trialling Directory Opus and having trouble with Zip and Email Files.

Setup:

  • Windows version: 11 Pro
  • Directory Opus version: 13
  • Outlook: Classic Outlook
  • Email method in Opus: mailto: emulation
  • SMTP fields are blank; I am not using internal SMTP
  • Default MAILTO handler in Windows is Outlook classic

Behaviour:

  • Zip and Email Files works the first time after restarting Directory Opus.
  • After that, trying the same command again appears to do nothing.
  • No email compose window opens.
  • The Windows Run test works repeatedly:
    mailto:myemail.com.au?subject=Test

I also tried switching from New Outlook to classic Outlook and restarted Opus.

Could you please advise whether this is a known issue with mailto emulation / Outlook, or whether there is a recommended setup for Zip and Email Files without using the internal SMTP client?

Does it make a difference if you set:

  • Preferences / Miscellaneous / Advanced: [Compatibility] dlldir_security

...to False, and then reboot?

(If not, please set it back to True.)
