Disable FAYT bottom Find panel

Is it possible to disable the FAYT (Find As You Type) bottom "Find" panel?

The reason is because I would like to be able to type in the partial name of the file and then use a hotkey on the file selected.

For example, from C:\

  1. Type in "Windo" to select the folder "Windows" (currently FAYT bottom "Find" panel shows "Windo")
  2. Push hotkey "Ctrl+E" to perform a hotkey action on the selected folder "Windows"
At #2, this is where it breaks, since the FAYT bottom "Find" panel is focused, the "Ctrl+E" hotkey action does not work. Instead, I need to type "Esc" and then "Ctrl+E"

This behavior of having the FAYT bottom "Find" panel breaks the ability to be able to use custom hotkeys when selecting a file-folder using partial typing of the name.

I would recommend a new option to disable the popup FAYT bottom "Find" panel.

While you can disable FAYT, it completely disables FAYT, so nothing would happen when you typed "Windo".

I went here (Preferences / File Displays / Find-As-You-Type) and couldn't find an option to disable FAYT.

I personally don't want to turn it off, but in response to Robert's question, I wanted to disable it to see if typing in a lister behaves the same way as typing in Windows Explorer.

Also do not want to disable FAYT feature, but just the bottom popup pane which blocks hotkey from being used. i.e. so would be like Windows Explorer where can type starting portion of file-folder, then use a hotkey immediately on the current selection.

My vote would be to add a feature such as the following:
"Show typed characters in bottom popup pane"
