Disable Javascript for MHT pages in the viewer pane?

Hi forum,

all the time I save lots of web pages from online newspapers etc. in MHT format. If available, I save the "Print" version of a page in order to save space and get rid of ads etc.

Some "Print" pages however use JavaScript (or something) to automatically bring up the print dialog (example) which is annoying already.

Unfortunately however, this automatic print action additionally seems to slow down the ActiveX Viewer in Dopus considerably. In my case, it always takes like 15 seconds until finally that "Print" dialog comes up and I can close it. Dopus is totally unresponsive during that time.

Therefore the question would be, is there a way to completely prevent the ActiveX Viewer Internet Explorer component from executing JavaScript (other than disabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer)?

Thanks already
David.P

FWIW, the same thing happens, including the delay, if you double-click the file and open it in Internet Explorer. It looks like something IE itself is doing wrong.

There isn't, except by using something else to view (M)HTML files.

(e.g. On Vista and Windows 7 there's a Windows Mail MIME MHTML preview handler which views MHTML files and ignores javascript. That one is enabled by default and gets priority over IE, since it works well. There's also a Windows Mail HTML preview handler for normal HTML files, but that one is disabled by default as it doesn't display images.)

Thanks Leo.

Actually I seem to have found a solution by first following this, and by then deactivating all active content for local files in the internet options, security zone for "my computer".

Cheers David.P

Yeah, you can disable scripting for the local files zone. I didn't mention that as I figured it counted as disabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer.

Yup, correct
