I would also like to have a global file deselection. I don't like files being deselected when I copy/rename/whatever and I think the @nodeselect solution is a little "dirty" (furthermore, it doesn't work with CTRL+C AFAIK).

@nodeselect works fine with Ctrl-C; I just tried it.
Go to Customize, Keys and edit the Ctrl-C shortcut, adding @nodselect on a separate line at the end of the command. (Click the Advanced button if the command editor isn't showing a multi-line edit box.)
By the way, you should write to GPSoftware via their web form if you've got a concrete feature request. This forum is for discussing ideas but isn't used as GPSoft's To-Do list so things may be overlooked if they aren't submitted to GPSoft directly.
