A library folder in Opus 11 Pro shows 10 or 15 additional (old) directories than the same library folder does when observed in Windows 10 File Explorer. The Windows File Explorer library director shows only the directories I added to it one-by-one. I don't know why the same library directory in Opus has the additional (sub) directories.
Why is there a discrepancy between the two? An Opus setting maybe?
A click on properties shows the correct directories - the same as shown in Windows Explorer.
The extra directories appear to be from Opus opening the "correct" 1st level directories and showing the 2nd level directories as if they are 1st level. The library is named Backup. An example 1st level directory is AppData. AppData's 2nd level directories are: local, Locallow, and roaming.
Windows File Explorer shows the correct "nested" relationship, whereas, Opus "unnests" and lists the local, Locallow, and roaming directories as 1st level directories (and does not show any listing for an AppData directory).
Checking the "show member folders individually" option corrects the "un nesting" in the left hand folder tree panel.
In the next panel 2nd level folders are still shown un-nested as 1st level folders.
Windows Explorer and Directory Opus show the same folder listing in the Folder Tree panel when the "show member folders individually" option is checked -- but Opus un-nests the 2nd level folders and shows them as 1st level in the next pane (File Explorer shows them nested correctly).
This occurs in Opus only at the 1st level of the library.
An example:
A library folder is named Backup. In the folder named "Backup" is a sub folder named "Work". In "Work" are 2 sub folders: "Marketing" and "Presentations".
In the Folder tree when the "+" next to "Backup" is clicked both Opus and File Explorer behave correctly and list ONLY the "Work" folder among the sub folders ("Work's" "Marketing" and "Presentations" sub folders are not shown under "Backup" the Folder Tree pane.
When The folder name "Backup" is clicked (rather than the "+" sign) Windows File Explorer CORRECTLY shows ONLY 1st level folders in the pane to the right of the Folder pane.
The difference is that Opus lists BOTH 1st AND 2nd level folders in the pane to the right of the Folder pane (unnests the 2nd level folders and mixes them alphabetically with 1st level folders).
I can send a side-by-side screen shot which shows clearly what I am describing.
If you use View > Group By > None (top-middle/right area of the default toolbars), when inside the library, does that change things to what you are expecting?
View > Group By has been set to "None" through my observation of the discrepancy.
In the Folder Tree Opus and File Explorer display the identical 2nd level folders for the library, "Backup" (starting with the folders: AppData, ACT, Administration, Career, Data 2016).
When The folder name "Backup" is clicked and highlighted the first part of the listing in the 2nd pane in File Explorer is:
AppData
ACT
Administration
Career
Data 2016
In the 2nd pane in Opus the listing begins with these folders:
2008-01-02
2008-01-06
2008-01-10
2008-01-22
2008-01-24
2008-02-21
2008-02-26
2008-03-14
2008-03-20
2008-03-28
2008-04-06
ACT
ACT Data
ACT Database for 2016
Admin
Altima
Backup Admin
Backups - Act DB copies
2nd level folders in the "Backup" library are mixed in with 1st level folders.
Could you post a screenshot so we can see exactly how everything looks, and also a screenshot of the library setup (right-click the library itself, then choose Properties)?
In properties the path for the folder Backup Admin is listed as C:\Users\John\Documents\Administration. Notice in the right panel the folder Administration listed under the library "Backup" in the Folder Tree is not even listed -- only 2nd level folders seem to be listed in the right hand pane.
That looks completely correct for the Backup Admin folder.
Its parent folder (Administrators) is part of the library, so it and its siblings should be at the top-level of the library.
If you un-group the view in File Explorer, I'd expect it to show the Backup Admin folder in exactly the same way in the file display. (It's only being hidden in your File Explorer screenshot because all the groups are collapsed.)
Alternatively, if you group the view in Opus by Location, it would be similar to what you see in File Explorer.
The "ACT" folder still interests me, but I am wondering if there is more than one folder named "ACT" in play, which could be confusing matters.
Quickest way: Add the Location column, then right-click the header and choose the Group By option. (Or View > Group By menu after adding the column.)
It can also be done without adding the column but that requires setting up a button or hotkey which may not be worth it if it's just to see if it does the right thing.
