I'm searching for a way (if possible) to have all archived/compressed files displayed underneath folders in the same manner as in the old Norton Navigator file manager. Basically, to have the same display style in the lister as in the folder tree. So, folders will be on top, then archives and files below. Can this be done?
It could be done using a script. One that automated manual sorting could possibly do it, but I'm not sure how well it'd work.
Another way would be a script column which lets you sort files with the archives first; that would work quite easily, but you would need to havr an extra column displayed all the time so you could sort by it.
There's a Preferences option to include archives in the folder tree, but in the file display they are sorted as files by default.
Thanks for the suggestions. After researching on the web and a look-through the manual, I didn't think there was a way of doing it by simply enabling a feature. I will see how scripts work and determine if I can use them effectively. I'm accustomed to viewing my files this way for so long that it's a bit of an inconvenience, and the only thing I feel I'm missing in this otherwise fantastic application.
