I cannot find a status bar code to do this.
The closest I can find is to mouse over the existing padlock icon.
Is it accurate that there is no status bar code to show this? (Or any other way...?)

There isn't, no. It would potentially fill up the status bar if there was, given the typical length of the padlock icon message. 
(There isn't really a named current format, only a list of actions that led to the current format.)
