Display META in thumbnail view

Hi all,

Recently I have been trying to use a path folder format to customise the way a particular path is displayed. The path contains media data and I'd like to show it in thumbnail mode, but I'd also like to choose some META data to display underneath the thumbnail (e.g. Title). I have managed to set up the path folder format so that it shows thumbnails, and I have also set it to display certain META data. Unfortunately the META data no longer displays when the folder path is set to thumbnail mode. I checked the thumbnail file display mode settings and I notice that it is possible to set up to 10 lines to use for the label. But there is no option to choose custom data to display in this label - it just shows the filename with optional file size and rating overlay (I like the rating overlay!).

My questions are:

  1. Is there any interest in applying these preferences in future versions of DOPUS?
  2. I have programming experience, though I haven't gone much further than a few simple scripts with DOPUS. Would it be possible to apply this level of customisation via some plugin? If so, what's the best way to get me started down that road?

Thanks all,

BH.

Tiles mode is more what you want instead of Thumbnails mode. You can customize the metadata displayed under Settings - File Types.

Or you might want to try the Details+Thumbnails mode which was added in Opus 11. (There's a button for it on the default toolbar, or you can add the Thumbnail column to a normal Details mode window.)

Thanks for the response leo,

Your post explains something that was bothering me; I was sure I'd seen the option to display a thumbnail in the details view, but for the life of me I couldn't find it. I run V11 on my home computer but V10 on my laptop, so I guess I must have seen it previously on my home computer.

I haven't been able to get the tile view working the way I wanted, but perhaps there are more options for this in V11 as well - I'll check when I get home.

Thanks once again.
