Hey DO team
I am requesting the native ability to display the Duration/Length of video n audio files directly within the Thumbnails view.
Currently, the Thumbnails view allows displaying options like "date taken or modified" n "image dimensions and file size" via checkboxes in Preferences:
However, theres no option or text variable to display the media length.
I am aware that the common workaround is "use Tiles mode" ( since it supports the {length} variable ) as it stated here :
However, Tiles mode forces a completely different visual layout n spacing that is not ideal for scanning large, dense media galleries.
Proposed Solutions:
-
Add to Labels: Add a simple checkbox in the Thumbnails Labels preferences for "Display media length/duration" ( similar to file size/dimensions ).
-
Native Overlay ( Preferred ): Support a native duration overlay directly on the video thumbnail itself ( e.g. a small [03:45] box in the bottom right corner ), similar to how YouTube, File Explorer, or macOS Finder handle moving images natively.
Which is a feature was suggested previously by Gudio back in 2024/8/9 :
New info for augmented thumbnails view mode
Having this strictly within the Thumbnails view would drastically improve the workflow for anyone managing extensive video/audio libraries without needing to switch view modes or rely on hovering for Info Tips.
Thx !
