Do I really need this programme?

It was reccomended to me on another forum in answer to this question -

"I just got a portable hard drive for storing music files and backup of my flightsim downloads, can someone tell me how I can easily synchronise for example my download folder on my pc with the copy of it on my portable?"

so i downloaded it and tried it and yes it is fairly simple and quick to synchronise my folders but this is a big complex programme with lots of bells and whistles which I probably will never use.how easy is it to synchronise with normal windows explorer?
Thanks for your help

There's no synchronisation function built into Explorer, so you will need a third-party tool of some sort. Have a look at pretentiousname.com/opus/index.html for some other things that Opus can do that you might find useful.

I think you will find that the more you use it, and the more you find out about it, the more you will need it. After a while, you will not be able to live without it.

Don't say you weren't warned!

If you like to sync only why don't you use a programm that will only do this job: a sync-program like SyncBack or Easy2Sync.

Um... Windows built-in Briefcase? Or perhaps their recently offered free SyncToy...
