Does DO have this specific limitation as win Explorer?

I have replaced the default win folders globally but to see them I have to select "always show icons never folders", which means that I cant see thumbs for images/videos. Can I over come this with DO?

Turning off Preferences / File Display Modes / Thumbnails / Folders / Display thumbnails for folders is probably all you need.

There's also Exclude folders with custom icons for folders that have individual icons assigned.

If those aren't what you need, please give more detail.

For example, what does "replaced the default win folders globally" mean? Are we talking about changing the look of the default folder icons or something else?

What's the reason for selecting "always show icons never folders"? Are you trying to avoid folder thumbnails being displayed? For all folders, or just ones with custom icons?

Hi. I have replaced the default windows folder icon, the yellow thing. I have numerous methods for doing this (Stardock icon editor / Folder marker / or even editing the registry

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons

3 C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\IconPackager\mydaw1\mydaw1 Icon 08.ico,0
4 C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\IconPackager\mydaw1\mydaw1 Icon 08.ico,0)

But the replacement icon I used is completely ignored by windows unless I select "always show icons never folders" in explorer options.

But if I use that option I can no longer see thumbnails for pics/videos etc.

I have also disabled windows folder preview where you can see the file type inside the folder from the folder icon.

Actually the 1st thing you said works, thanks.
