Just noticed that the folder tree is displaying 2 "Desktop' folders. I only have "Recycle Bin" and "This PC" icons on my desktop so I assume that's why the folders are empty. Running Windows 10 pro x64.
Hi Leo,
I found the problem. I changed the location of many of my "user" folders to a different drive, including "Desktop" quite a while ago. Apparently a new "Desktop" folder was created on my C: drive some where along the way. Sorry to have taken up some of your time.
MS has made the folder tree such a god awful mess... FWIW, I've seen this same issue since moving to Windows 10 on 2 different computers, twice on each computer. All 4 times it was either the Desktop or OneDrive item this happened with.
But it didn't seem like they got RE-created - they just never went away to begin with (or else reappeared so rapidly I never noticed them being gone).
