DOpus accessing external USB drive

Hi,

I set up an icon in one of the toolbars that opens My Documents (Windows 7, 64 bit) (it uses the command: Go /mydocuments) . When I click on this icon, DOpus opens My Documents but also does something to cause an external USD hard drive to spin up (the external drive had turned itself "off" due to lack of activity). Why would DOpus try to access this external hard drive, if all I was doing was directing it to access the "My Documents" folder on my C: drive?

Do you have any shortcuts in that folder that point to the external drive?

yes I do, but if I don't click on those shortcuts, why should they activate the external hard drive?

Do you have the description column enabled?
Or the Preferences / Folders / Folder Behaviour / Sort shortcuts to folders like folders option turned on?

I do have the Sort shortcuts to folders like folders option turned on.

do not have the Description field turned on (in Display | Fields | Description is not checked)

To tell if the shortcut points to a file or a folder, Opus has to look at what it points at. If it's pointing at something on a USB drive, the drive may spin up.

so I guess what you're telling me is that if Description is checked or Sort shortcuts to folders like folders option is turned on, then the external drive will be accessed - correct???...

If Sort shortcuts to folders like folders is on, and you go into a folder with a shortcut pointing to another drive, that drive will be accessed.

Not sure about the Description column, but since you don't have that on it won't be relevant.

OK, Mystery Solved, thanks for the explanation, EVERYONE
