I think I discovered a bug or a problem regarding the rating of music files.
I am mainly using foobar2000 to rate my music files; it is set to write ID3v2.3, wmp compliant, not TXXX rating and the concerned tag is "%rating%".
Specifically any file rated with 4 will be displayed as 5 rated in Dopus, while all other ratings are displayed correctly in Dopus.
Windows Explorer has no problem recognizing the rating set to 4.
In addition to that, I also exprienced problems of the rating set in Dopus not being recognized by other software. I have to do some more testing in order to give you exact details on this problem.
I should have mentioned I am using the latest beta of Dopus.
As soon as I had set updating the file date after metadata editing to true, I also see the file ratings correctly.
But the bug with the 4 stars remains; Dopus reads those as 5 while it reads any other rating correctly.
Uhm, this is not a high priority support question, but I would really like to know if this issue is confirmed?
You dont need foobar2000 to reproduce this; also when rating anything via windows explorer to 4, Dopus displays it wrongly as 5 stars (5 stars and all other ratings are displayed correctly though).
Yes, it's confirmed. The rating value is stored as a number from 0 to 255, and Opus is rounding it up/down slightly differently to the other programs when turning it into a rating from 0 to 5.
We'll probably change the rounding, unless we find a reason not to. (It seems a bit weird as I'm sure we compared against Explorer to get the current rounding method, but maybe something got changed at some point.)
It would be great if Dopus reflected the explorer rounding, about the only reason for me using explorer these days is quickly checking ratings of mp3 files.
