I have had no problems with DOpus until recently, when I needed to change my FTP password.
Now, every time I run DOpus for the first time, and try to connect, it is asking me for the new password.
I have tried running DOpus in Admin mode, tried completely deleting the FTP account and starting again. Still asks me each time.
It seems to be remembering the old password as it is popping up a 7 character pwd in the dialog prompt, and the new one is 8 character.
Any help would be appreciated, as this is driving me mad. I usually connect directly to my FTP site on starting DOpus, so you can see how annoying this would be.
The checkbox you mentioned is unchecked. I assume this is how it's meant to be? Also, this is how it was before I changed the password. What may have caused it to go pear-shaped when this changed?
As to the upgrade thing, pure laziness I'm afraid. I will update it soon.
Each entry also has an 'ask for password' checkbox. Make sure it's unchecked. There's a bug if it's set to ask each time - the dialog just keeps asking and asking...
The bug was reported a long time ago but seems to have slipped through the cracks. I've just re-reported it to GPSoftware.
The individual box is also unchecked. When I try to login for the first time each session, a box pops up titled 'Invalid or Incorrect Site Details'. With my (correct) username already filled in and a password, which I think is the old one, because it's only 7 characters.
There is a box on this dialog: 'Save password on connect', which is currently checked.
When I change the password to the new one, it logs in OK to the FTP. But I have to do this several times, once for each tab in the lister window. It then stays logged in OK until I close DOpus and start again ...
Please try updating to 12.19 first. If that still has the issue, please tell us what you're doing in more detail. Are you trying to save the password into the FTP Address Book, or into a Folder Tab Group, or Layout, or when connecting to the site another way?
I'm doing what I've always done for the last decade or so: storing FTP locations as favourites but now DOpus refuses to remember them, so every single time I have to manually enter the details. I also tried entering them in the FTP Address Book, and it forgets them too. REALLY irritating.
Are you able to add a completely new site to the FTP Address Book, and still see it after closing & re-opening the program? If that also fails it sounds like your config files/folder may be read-only.
I've been having the same issue. I've also saved it in the ftp address book and it shows in there as saved with authentication option "Use stored password" but every time DO restarts whether through a crash or a reboot, it always asks for login info. Like stevhill stated, it worked perfectly fine in the past but it doesn't work anymore. I'm on v12.20 x64
