Double click launch doesn't work

I have re-installed the full latest version of Opus to a new computer with Windows 10 Home.

Double click launch does not work.

I have tried some of the suggestions in this forum, eg selecting and unselecting the option, but nothing has worked thus far.

Standard installation of Windows 10, with the anti-virus that comes with the OS. But I wouldn't know how to deal with the anit-virus if I had to test that.

Assuming we're talking about the Desktop Double-Click feature:

  • Which option is selected under Preferences / Launching Opus / From the Desktop?

  • If you open Task Manager (right-click an empty space on the Windows taskbar, then choose Task Manager), and go to the Details tab, is dopusRT.exe running or only dopus.exe?

  • If you right-click the Windows desktop background and choose New Lister, does that work?

  • Does the Taskbar show any windows opening which might be offscreen? i.e. If no Opus windows are open and you try to open one, does a button for Opus appear on the taskbar even if no window is visible?

Leo,

Yes, desktop double click.

"Open the Default Lister" is selected in the From the Desktop settings.

Only dopus.exe is running.

Right click desktop background - no menu item to open a new lister appears.

Taskbar - can't see anything on the taskbar.

An antivirus, firewall or similar "security" tool is most likely blocking dopusRT.exe from launching, or killing it after it launches.

What happens if you keep Task Manager open, then select Preferences / Launching Opus / From the Desktop: Disable, then click Apply, wait a few seconds, then select Open the Default LIster and Apply again? Do you see dopusRT.exe appear in the Task Manager list, even briefly?

Yes, when I do that I see dopusrt.exe appear, and it stays there/doesn't disappear if I don't do anything.

Ah, but double click desktop is now working.

It'll probably still be blocked from starting again when you reboot.

If may just be Windows' built-in blocking, which is in the Start-Up tab of Task Manager. Make sure it says Status: Enabled for both Opus components:

If something else is blocking it from starting then you may need to ask the vendor(s) of any security tool(s) you use for help.

Directory Opus Helper shows in start up as enabled.

But, there is no listing for Directory Opus. But I don't open it on start up.

As said, this is a clean installation of Windows 10 with whatever comes with it re anti-virus/protection. I haven't added anything else

It has now survived a reboot....

Still working.
