I would like to drag and drop email messages from Outlook to the file
system and have them be automatically named according to 'sent
date/time-author-recipient-subject line'.
Can Directory Opus be configured to accommodate this?

This sounds like a very common idea to the macro world so a free downloadable script may already be out there if you look around.
Macro Express Pro - is the easiest to learn.
Auto hotkey - is free but not as user friendly.
Both have user forums to search/help.
