Is this something that can be done, with or without a modifier key?
You can hold Alt and click the item to open it in a new tab.
Full list of qualifiers (unless I've forgotten any):
-
<none>
Usual action of going to the folder in the current tab. -
Alt
Open a new tab for it. -
Ctrl
Go to it on the other side of a dual file display, using its current folder tab. -
Ctrl + Alt
Open a new tab for it on the other side. -
Shift
Open a new window for it.
my alt
and ctrl
+alt
+click
are not responding.
ctrl
and shift
combos are.
is there another place beside Preferences / File Displays / Mouse where i might have toggled off the alt
key?
nevermind, answered my own question...
if alt
+click
to edit toolbar buttons is toggled on Preferences / Toolbars / Options / Alt + click to edit toolbar buttons, it seems to stop alt+click to folders & drop downs.
I can't un-toggle alt
+click
to edit toolbar buttons, I use that that shortcut everyday.
for some reason I always thought it was alt
+Right Click
which I do out of habit. didn't realize I could left click till just now.
Could it become a option it use right click there as gain alt+click on folders?
forget all I said about alt
=click
not working. I just figured out it was a AutoHotkey script that using alt
getting in the way.
all is working as it should be in dopus when close that ahk app.
